Nadia Karayianni

President

Nadia has a BA in Politics and International Relations and an MSc in Management with Human Resource Management. She is now completing an MA in Gender Studies. She currently works as a Conference and Project Manager at IMH. Prior to this, she worked as a research officer at the University of Cyprus and as Project Manager at the NGO Support Centre, where she worked on the Cypriot Civil Society Strengthening Programme, and is a member of the NGO Working Group for Law Reform since 2007. She has been a volunteer in the Girl Guides Association of Cyprus for more than 20 years and served as an International Commissioner for the Association. She was Vice President of the Cyprus Youth Council from 2005-2007 and also part of the European Youth Committee for Health issues. She was the President of the NGDO Platform of Cyprus from 2008-2012.

Michalis Avraam

Vice - President

Michalis is a founding member of the NGO Support Centre. He has been strongly advocating for the role and importance of being an active citizen and has been involved in a number of projects promoting peace and reconciliation in Cyprus. Michalis is the founder and Managing Director of Michalis Avraam & Partners Ltd, Auditors and Business Advisors. He holds a BA in Economics and he is a qualified Chartered Accountant. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (ICAEW), with over 25 years’ experience in the accounting and auditing profession in Cyprus and the UK. He is also a qualified mediator with substantial involvement in conflict management, business and financial dispute resolution. He is a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus (ICPAC), the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and the Association of Conflict Resolution (ACR) and has served on the Board of Directors of the Cyprus Investment Promotion Agency (CIPA) and he is a past President of Nicosia Aspelia Rotary Club.

Athina Kyriakou

Treasurer

Athina studied Philosophy, Byzantine and Modern Greek Language at the University of Cyprus and she also holds an MBA. She currently works as a Project Officer at IMH, where she is implementing European and local projects. Prior to this, she worked for 8 years as Project Officer at Anazitisi Cultural Center, where she implemented various Erasmus Projects, such us Youth in Action and Grundtvig Partnerships. Also she was responsible for the organisation and implementation of In-Service Training Courses for language teachers. Moreover, Athina for 6 years was teaching Greek as a foreign language, at Open School of Strovolos Municipality and she was participating in the project “Colorful societies”.

Elena Heraclides

Secretary

Elena holds a law degree and has been admitted to the Cyprus Bar in 2016. She currently works as a lawyer at a law firm in Nicosia. She firmly believes in active citizenship and has a keen interest in human rights. She actively participates in NGO initiatives that aim to change governmental policies in among others, education and rights of minorities.

Charis Alexandrou

Member

Charis is a Chief Accounting Officer with certificates and experience in accounting (VAT, VIES, EORI INTRASTAT forms, Social Insurance, Taxes, submission of MOSS Report). She also has extensive experience in running EU and UNDP funded projects for NGOs or companies as a financial officer.

Chris is also a certified life and executive coach and has graduated from the Global Academy of Coaching, accredited by ICF International coaching Federation, AC the Association of Coaching, and EMCC the European Mentoring and Coaching Council.

She loves life and knows exactly what she wants to achieve, which she will fight for with huge motivation and determination.

Marios Antoniou

Member

Marios earned his Ph.D. in Education from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Studying in the School of Education’s Culture, Curriculum and Change program, his research focused on Peace Education and more specifically on how unified education systems in conflict and post-conflict societies can foster and promote a culture of peace. As a recipient of the Rotary Peace Fellowship at UNC, Marios earned a Masters in School Administration and Educational Leadership and a Certificate in International Studies in Peace and Conflict Resolution from the Duke-UNC Rotary Peace Center. Finally, he holds a BA in Science of Education from the University of Cyprus. Beyond his academic work, his passion for Peace Education is reflected through his professional and voluntary engagement with several NGOs in Cyprus. He has previously worked as a research associate at the Open University of Cyprus, as the Director of Grants and Educational Programs at Teachers2Teachers-International and taught at UNC’s Curriculum in Global Studies.

Yiannis Trimithiotis

Member

Yiannis Trimithiotis studied at the University of Cyprus (BA in Political Sciences with a minor in Social Sciences) and at Warwick University (ΜΑ Social and Political Thought). Following his studies, Yiannis worked, initially, in the field of Communication and Public Affairs and from 2012 onwards he is active in the field of project management. Yiannis was in the past the Policy and Projects Officer at the Cyprus Youth Council (CYC) and a board member of the Cyprus Humanist Association. As CYC’s policy and projects officer, Yiannis designed and implemented various youth related Erasmus+ projects, a number of which focused on increasing employability and entrepreneurship in youth. He also took part in a number of Public Policy consultations on youth related issues and co-hosted a weekly youth focused radio show on web-based community station – MyCyRadio.EU. Yiannis is passionate about social inclusion, human rights protection and environmental causes.
