JoiEU was implemented by a group of international partners, including the NGO Support Centre, led by ProInfo (Bulgaria). The project was funded through the Europe for Citizens programme of the EU run through August 2013 to January 2015.
Aims and Purposes
Through a series of thematic debates, taking place in thirteen countries in total, the project sought to engage citizens and contribute to an enhanced and better informed citizen participation in the democratic life of the EU.
Main Activities and Products
The project involved citizen debates and actions in thirteen countries in total, eleven EU member states, one candidate and one potential candidate country. Each debate, which had a transnational nature through the online participation of international partners, mobilized citizen participation and the use of innovative communication and advocacy stools to both discuss the current state of affairs and steps forward.
The outcomes and conclusions along with the suggestions of each debate were then laid out in a policy paper. You can find the policy paper of the debate organized by the NGO SC here and all of the project’s policy papers here.
