20 Feb Conference ‘Citizen Involvement in the EU’
The NGO Support Centre organised on the 15th of February a conference entitled ‘Citizen Involvement in the EU’ that took place as part of the EU project ‘ECoSMS- Empowering Citizens of Small Member States that is implemented by the NGO Support Centre in cooperation with ESTYES and Kopin. The conference focused on the various way citizens can get involved in the EU decision making mechanism through civil society initiatives and looked at the example of the campaigning activities of the environmental NGO Friends of the Earth and the sexual and reproductive group Youth Sexual Awareness For Europe (YSAFE). Additionally, the three partner organisations presented the results of a series of meetings they had with citizens in order to explore the way their involvement as citizens of small member states can be enhanced.
Participants of the conference included people coming from various civil society organisations and citizens groups.
