03 Feb Information session of the Cypriot Civil society Mapping & Capacity Building’ project
The NGO Support Centre, successfully organized, on Thursday 29th of January, an information session for NGOs, as part of the ‘Cypriot Civil Society Mapping & Capacity Building project’. During the session, which took place at Classic Hotel in Nicosia, key parameters, information and outputs of the project were presented to over 30 representatives of NGOs.
The event was initiated by a welcoming speech by the Centre Manager of the NGO Support Centre, Louiza Hadjivasiliou and was followed by a presentation of the key components of the project by the Project Administrator, Marilena Kyriakou. Marilena, also demonstrated the newly launched ngosincyprus.org platform, which was developed through the project.
Consequently, one of the researchers of the project, Panayiota Xenophontos, laid out the preliminary results of the Capacity Assessment research conducted through the project along with the advantages of networking and coalition building for Civil Society Organizations. The session was concluded by Mr. Pantelis Dimitriou who, through his capacity as the Programme Operator, made a brief introduction of the Code of Ethics and Practices for NGOs that is to be drafted in collaboration through deliberation with the NGOs.
Overall, the session was an excellent opportunity for the team of the project to inform NGOs about its progress and future activities, but also to explain and discuss their involvement. Moreover, attendees had the chance to share and discuss their experience of networking actions as well as their expectations of what a Code of Ethics & Practices for NGOs should entail.
